IMPULSE
Real-time biomechanical monitoring for basketball — so you see what's happening inside a player's body before an injury happens.
For Coaches · Athletic Trainers · Players
The Problem
You can't see what's building.
By the time a player feels pain or shows a limp, the injury has already started.
👁️
Invisible Load
Biomechanical stress builds inside joints, tendons, and soft tissue during every jump, cut, and landing — but none of it is visible to the sideline.
⚖️
Hidden Asymmetry
Players compensate for fatigue or previous soreness by shifting load to one side. This imbalance is silent — and it's one of the most common precursors to a non-contact injury.
⏱️
Fatigue Goes Undetected
As a player fatigues, their mechanics change — ground contact time lengthens, push-off power drops. These are real, measurable signals. Without the right sensor, you're guessing.
The Product
A smart insole. A clear signal.
Impulse drops into any basketball shoe in under 30 seconds — worn over the existing insole. No shoe changes. No equipment setup.
👟
The Insole
A thin sensor layer that sits over your existing insole. It contains a pressure sensor array, motion sensor (IMU), embedded electronics, and a Bluetooth transmitter. Players cannot feel it.
📡
Live Wireless Transmission
Data streams continuously from each player's insole to a sideline device via Bluetooth — live, during practice, with no delay and no manual data export required.
🖥️
The Coach Dashboard
A tablet or laptop display showing every player's real-time status. No graphs. No raw numbers. One clear signal per player: green, yellow, or red.
📱
The Player View
After each session, players and parents see a simplified Impulse Score and session summary in plain language — no biomechanics degree required to understand it.
What Impulse Measures
Five signals that matter in basketball.
Built specifically for basketball's biomechanics — not running, not multi-sport. Every metric is chosen because of what basketball actually demands from the body.
Landing Load Distribution
Whether force is distributed evenly between left and right foot, forefoot and heel, on every landing.
Left-Right Asymmetry
Real-time comparison of load on each foot during cuts, drives, and landings — the first sign that a player is guarding an injury.
Jump Take-Off Efficiency
How explosively and symmetrically a player pushes off the ground — catching performance drops before they become visible.
Ground Contact Time Under Fatigue
As players tire, contact time lengthens and push-off power fades. Impulse detects this before the player or coach feels it.
Movement Consistency
Subtle shifts in foot mechanics that precede both performance degradation and overuse injury — tracked across every rep.
The Coach Dashboard
One signal. Three states. Zero confusion.
The dashboard is silent during normal activity. It alerts — visually and clearly — only when a player's biomechanics cross a pre-set threshold.
GREEN
Player's biomechanics are within normal range. Load is balanced, mechanics are consistent, fatigue is not detectable. Keep them in — everything looks good.
YELLOW
Early deviation detected. Asymmetry or fatigue drift is starting to show. Watch closely. Consider reducing reps, adjusting drill intensity, or monitoring over the next few minutes.
RED
Risk threshold crossed. Mechanics have degraded significantly or load imbalance is acute. Pull the player. Rest them, assess, or substitute — before the body gives you a worse signal.
How It Works
Setup under 30 seconds. Zero disruption.
Impulse is designed to fit into your existing practice routine — not replace it.
1
Drop the insole into any basketball shoe
The Impulse insole sits over the player's existing insole. No shoe changes, no custom footwear, no fit adjustments. S/M/L sizing covers every roster.
2
Open the dashboard on any tablet or laptop
The coach or trainer pulls up the Impulse dashboard on any device — no app store download, no IT setup. It's a web app accessible at a live URL from any browser.
3
Start practice
As soon as players start moving, data starts streaming. Each player appears on the dashboard with their live status. The insole transmits continuously for 8+ hours on a single charge.
4
Respond to alerts in real time
When a player's status shifts to yellow or red, an audible and visual alert fires on the dashboard. No data analysis required — one look tells you what you need to know.
Who Impulse Is For
Built for everyone on the sideline.
Impulse surfaces the right information to the right person — at the right moment.
🏀
Head Coach
Make substitution decisions with real data behind them.
See every player's biomechanical status at a glance from the sideline
Get a clear alert before the injury happens — not after
Zero learning curve. The dashboard requires no technical knowledge
No change to your practice structure or drill design
🩺
Athletic Trainer
Stop guessing when to pull a player. Know.
Real-time load data replaces gut feel with objective signals
Track asymmetry trends across sessions to catch overuse early
Document biomechanical baselines for every player on the roster
Return-to-play decisions backed by movement data, not just feel
Player
Understand your body. Train smarter. Stay on the court.
Your Impulse Score after every session shows where you stand
See your Explosiveness, Durability, and Load Balance in plain language
Track how your mechanics improve over time
No wires, no bulk — you won't know it's there
The Team
Built by athletes, for athletes.
Every team member is a former or current athlete who has felt this problem firsthand.

For Athletic Trainers
Under the hood.
A closer look at the sensor system, accuracy targets, and clinical-grade data integrity built into every Impulse insole.
Sensing Hardware
Pressure sensorFSR402 array · 4-zone plantar coverage
Motion sensor (IMU)BNO085 · 9-DOF accel + gyro + orientation
Sample rate50Hz continuous
ADC resolution12-bit · 0–20 N/cm²
Sensor anchor methodPatent-pending heel cup + toe stop
The mechanical anchor is why Impulse data is trustworthy. A sensor that slides inside the shoe produces corrupted readings under lateral cut forces. Ours doesn't move.
Connectivity & Power
Wireless protocolBluetooth 5.0 BLE · GATT service
Transmission latency<100ms end-to-end
Gym range≥20m line-of-sight
Battery life8+ hours continuous · LiPo 3.7V
ChargingInductive (Qi) — no removal from shoe
Covers a full practice day on a single charge. Inductive charging means players drop the shoe on a pad — no pulling the insole out, no cables, no forgotten charging.
Alert Thresholds (Trainer-Configurable)
Asymmetry threshold (yellow)>15% L/R load deviation
Asymmetry threshold (red)>25% L/R sustained over 10 contacts
Ground contact drift>15% vs. session baseline
Peak load flagConfigurable per player history
Alert deliveryVisual + audible on sideline dashboard
Thresholds are set per player based on baseline sessions. A player with a prior ankle injury can have a tighter red threshold — so the same alert means different things for different athletes.
Physical & Durability
Stack height≤4mm total profile
SubstrateFlex PCB · polyimide base
Moisture protectionIP54 · conformal coating
SealingHeat-welded perimeter · TPU anti-slip base
SizingS / M / L — fits any basketball shoe
Built for the sweat, shear force, and compression of full practice conditions. Players will not notice it is there — confirmed in every early wear test.
